Why choose the Frahan route?
The Frahan meander is one of the most photographed sites in Belgium. Seeing it from the bottom of the valley, sitting in your kayak, is a completely different experience.
Setting off from Poupehan towards Vresse, you paddle through this protected area. The panorama over Rochehaut from the river is breathtaking: the cliffs rise sharply on either side, cutting the river off from the rest of the world.
Highlights
- Spectacular views over Frahan
- Absolute calm (no roads nearby)
- Wild swimming spots
- Passage beneath the old tobacco-drying barns
Good to know
- Recommended distance: 15 km
- Duration: about 4h00
- Level: very easy
- Start: Poupehan
An easy kayak descent in Belgium
If you are looking for an easy kayak descent in Belgium, the Semois is your best option. Unlike mountain rivers, the gradient is very gentle. The Alle-Vresse or Poupehan-Vresse route is perfect for those wary of rapids. Here there are no whirlpools, just pure gliding in the heart of the Ardennes forests.
Before heading to the Frahan meander, check the Semois water level in real time: the flow rate determines the navigability and safety of your descent.
