Semois Honey —
The Yellow Gold of the Ardennes
The Semois valley, the backbone of the eponymous National Park, stretches over
167 kilometers of meanders through a territory where forest covers
75% of the land. This configuration imposes a unique floral signature on the region's honeys: a succession of wild blooms that produce
polyfloral honeys of exceptional aromatic complexity.
Hawthorn, dandelion, brambles, lindens, wild clovers, oak and beech honeydew — Ardennes bees forage in a territory of floral richness that few regions in Europe can rival. The National Park has recorded
188 species of bees on its territory, accounting for half the species present in Belgium.
Since February 2025, honey from this region enjoys official European recognition: the Walloon Honey PGI (IGP Miel Wallon), guaranteeing production, harvesting, and packaging in Wallonia under the strictest quality standards.
