Kayaking in Rochehaut Semois Descent from the Balcony of the Ardennes

Boarding takes place from the banks of the Semois below Rochehaut, at the hamlet of Frahan. Our free shuttle takes you from the Rochehaut parking lot to the starting point of your chosen route. Everything is organized to simplify your day.

Prices start at €17 per person for the discovery route (7 km). The half-day route (12 km) is €22 and the full day (21 km) is €28. Two-seater kayaks available. Check out our detailed rates.

Absolutely! It's actually one of the great advantages of Rochehaut. Do the discovery route in the morning (2 hrs), have lunch in one of the Boreux restaurants, then visit the Agri-Museum (75 min) or the Animal Park (1 hr) in the afternoon. The Frahan viewpoint is accessible at any time, for free.

Yes! Kayaking is accessible from 6 years old in a two-seater kayak with an adult. The 7 km route is perfectly suited. The Semois is calm and safe. To keep the whole family busy, combine it with the Animal Park (a small train ride that kids love).

The season runs from April to October. May, June, and September offer the best conditions: optimal water level, temperatures between 18°C and 25°C, and a less crowded village than in the middle of summer. Sunny weekends in July-August are the most popular.

Two free parking lots are available: the Museum Parking (30 spaces + 3 coach spaces), ideal if you combine kayaking and attractions, and the Petit Bois Parking. Our shuttle provides the transfer to the boarding point below.

Navigation is regulated by provincial decree. In the event of a flow rate that is too high after heavy rains, navigation is prohibited for your safety. Check the real-time data above or our water level page before traveling.

From the water, admire the shale cliffs that can reach up to 100 m, the century-old oak forests, the Frahan meander seen from below (an inverted perspective compared to the viewpoint), the grey herons, and kingfishers. It is a unique perspective on Wallonia's classified heritage.
