Until the dawn of the 20th century, Bohan was a renowned center for hand nail-making. Men forged in small "shops" in the evenings. This industry declined in the face of industrial mechanical nail-making.

🍂 The Epic of Semois Tobacco

Launched in 1855 by Joseph Pierret, tobacco cultivation exploded in Bohan, reaching 575 hectares and 12 million plants in 1951. "Semois Tobacco" is both a landscape (drying sheds) and a savoir-faire.

Living Heritage

Today, the Maison Martin (founded in 1886) is the last factory to ensure the complete cycle, from seed to pipe. In 2025, this culture was inscribed as intangible heritage of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
