National Park of the Semois Valley · Belgian Ardennes
Camping by the Semois: the authentic Ardennes
The Semois valley is one of the finest camping destinations in the Belgian Ardennes. From Bouillon to Vresse-sur-Semois the river carves spectacular meanders lined with forests, in the heart of the National Park of the Semois Valley (28,900 ha, recognised in 2022). Here you camp as close as possible to the water, often in the "Blue Zone" — those pitches right on the riverbank, with a direct view and access to the banks.
What makes a campsite in the Semois valley so special: the kayaking a few minutes away, the GR16 running along the river, the Giant's Tomb and a rare wildlife (beaver, otter, kingfisher) observed from the bank. Tents, caravans, motorhomes and cycle tourists all find their place here, in unspoilt nature.
This guide helps you choose the right village and the right campsite for your style of stay, then book with our partner campsites of the valley. The cool Ardennes nights, even during a heatwave, and the quiet of the river make all the difference from coastal mass tourism.

Ardennes camping vs seaside camping
Why choose a campsite in the Belgian Ardennes?
Coolness vs heatwave
When the coast turns into an oven, the Ardennes forests act as a natural air conditioner. Cool nights and days in the shade of tall oaks. The Semois (10-18 °C in summer) is ideal for cooling off.
Quiet vs crowds
Forget the fight for a square metre of sand. Here your neighbour is the kingfisher. By kayak you sometimes paddle 30 minutes without meeting another boat.
Exceptional biodiversity
The Semois crosses Natura 2000 zones and the National Park. From a Blue Zone pitch, watch beavers, otters (confirmed by eDNA), kingfishers, herons and black storks.
Local gastronomy
Smoked Ardennes ham, Semois trout, abbey cheeses and local beers — at fair prices, in exceptional settings, far from the seaside chip stalls.
