Kayaking on the Ourthe : Everything You Need to Know
The kayak descent on the Ourthe in Comblain-au-Pont is a unique experience in the heart of the Liège Ardennes.
The Ourthe, a large Belgian river of approximately 165 kilometres, rises in the High Fens and joins the Meuse at Liège.
On the Comblain-au-Pont section, it reveals its finest features: limestone cliffs plunging into the water,
centuries-old oak and beech forests, and a current that makes the descent lively and engaging.
The Ourthe : a river with character
Unlike the Semois, more winding and gentle, the Ourthe has a stronger current.
The 7.8 kilometres of the Comblain-au-Pont route cross Natura 2000 areas classified for
their rich biodiversity: grey herons, kingfishers, beavers and otters populate the banks.
The river alternates between faster passages requiring concentration and calm zones
ideal for observing nature and catching your breath.
Equipment and safety
No special equipment is required: we provide all the gear.
Bring clothes that can get wet, closed-toe shoes (trainers or sandals with straps),
sunscreen, water and a snack. A windproof jacket is recommended for cool days.
The CE-certified life jacket is mandatory throughout the route — no exceptions.
Due to the more dynamic current of the Ourthe, it is essential to be able to swim.
A comprehensive safety briefing is given before each departure.
Return shuttle included
The return shuttle is included in the price. After your arrival, our vehicle takes you
back to your starting point at no extra charge. No complicated logistics.

Kayaking on the Ourthe with the family
Kayaking on the Ourthe is accessible from age 8 in a double kayak with an adult.
The more dynamic current requires an older child than on the Semois.
For families with children aged 6-7, we recommend our routes on the Semois in Alle-sur-Semois.
Group kayaking and stag / hen parties
The Ourthe descent is an ideal activity for groups of friends: stag and hen parties,
birthdays, team building.
Contact us for availability and group rates.
For very large groups, we combine Ourthe and Semois for a full adventure day.
