Secrets of the Art Centre & Expert Advice
Albert Raty : The Unsung Master of the Ardennes
Albert Raty (1890-1968) is considered one of the greatest Ardennes painters of the 20th century. Trained at the Fine Arts in Brussels, he developed a unique style mixing impressionism and expressionism, with a predilection for the landscapes of the Semois and Lesse valleys. The Art Centre owns the most important public collection of his works, some of which have never been exhibited before. His characteristic technique plays with the Ardennes light, creating atmospheres that are both realistic and poetic.
