Are you hesitating between several camping destinations in the Belgian Ardennes? Discover our detailed financial, geographical, and qualitative analysis of the 5 best campsites along the Semois and Lesse rivers. Make the right choice for your nature holiday.
The Belgian Ardennes represent one of the most beautiful and wild ecological sanctuaries in Western Europe. Traversed by legendary rivers like the Semois, the Lesse, and the Ourthe, they attract thousands of campers, kayakers, and hikers every year who seek a complete break in the heart of nature.
However, the outdoor accommodation market is extremely diverse. From simple, nature-based family campsites to luxury resorts with heated swimming pools: prices can vary considerably. An accurate and objective comparison not only helps you control your holiday budget but also allows you to understand the true value of the services offered (such as 10A electrical connections, heated sanitary facilities, direct access to the river for kayaking, free Wi-Fi, or complimentary shuttle services).
Premium pitch with direct river access and view on the Semois
By analyzing the most popular campsites in Dinant, Bouillon, Alle-sur-Semois, Vresse-sur-Semois, and along the wild Semois, our expert Quentin Deligne has established a comprehensive price map for the year 2026. This study is based on standard stays during low and high season, energy surcharges, and combined activity packages.
Below is the summary of the prices applied by the 5 large analyzed campsites for the 2026 season. These rates are per night, based on 2 adults with standard equipment (tent or caravan, car).
| Campsite & Location | Tent Pitch (2 pers.) | Motorhome Pitch | Electricity Connection | Major Asset |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Camping Dinant (Lesse & Meuse) | 14 € - 20 € / night | 17 € - 24 € / night | 4,50 € / day | Proximity to the Citadel & Grottos of Han |
| Camping Semois (Poupehan) | 14,40 € / night | 14,40 € / night | 2,75 € - 3,85 € | Exclusive Blue Zone directly on the river bank |
| Camping Bouillon (Semois) | 15 € - 22 € / night | 18 € - 25 € / night | 4,00 € / day | Heated pool & medieval castle |
| Camping Alle-sur-Semois (Laviot) | 18 € - 26 € / night | 22 € - 30 € / night | Included (ACSI) | Kayak packages & free shuttle service |
| Camping Vresse-sur-Semois (Huttopia) | 28 € - 35 € / night | 33 € - 40 € / night | 5,00 € / day | Luxury facilities & swimming pool in the forest |
*Note: Rates for the low season (April, May, September) are generally 20% to 35% cheaper than during the high season (July, August). ACSI rates are applicable upon presentation of the membership card during eligible periods.
The Camping Dinant benefits from a strategic location at the confluence of the Meuse and Lesse rivers. It is the ideal starting point for those who want to combine medieval history, a visit to the Citadel, and a sporty kayak descent. Prices are moderate in the low season, but electricity is billed at a premium due to the high demand for air conditioning for motorhomes in summer. Hydrologically, the Lesse has a strong flow, which makes the descent fast and exciting, although spring floods can sometimes force the temporary closure of certain pitches directly on the river bank.
Nestled in one of the most beautiful bends of the Semois in Poupehan, the Camping Semois Au Petit Ben-Gneur stands out for its very transparent flat-rate pricing of 14,40 € per night. Access to the famous Blue Zone (pitches located directly on the river bank) is subject to a small surcharge of 4,40 €/night. However, this is fully justified by the exceptional panorama and the soothing murmur of the water. It is a true paradise for trout fishermen and lovers of relaxing canoe or kayak trips. The regulated water volume of the Semois ensures excellent navigability over a longer period of the year compared to other rivers in the Ardennes.
Ideally located near the historic fortified town of Godfrey of Bouillon, Camping Bouillon particularly attracts families thanks to its high-quality infrastructure, including a heated swimming pool. High season prices rise up to 32 €/night for a tent pitch due to these extra amenities. This is an excellent compromise for those who want to combine modern comfort with supervised swimming and exploration of the rich historical heritage of the region. The river is wide and quiet here, ideal for children and beginners.
In Alle-sur-Semois (including the famous sites of Laviot, Sagittaire, and Héron), the focus is very much on adventure holidays. By directly integrating kayak rental into camping packages (the famous Ami-Pierre formula), campers can achieve significant savings. On the other hand, Vresse-sur-Semois (with the presence of Huttopia and Jardinet) targets a public looking for upscale glamping and comfort in the forest. Rates vary here between 28 € and 40 € per night, which is explained by wooden chalets, forest-integrated pools, and a very strict ecological charter.
Camping in the Belgian Ardennes also means actively contributing to the protection of a fragile ecosystem. The Semois valley is strictly protected under the European Natura 2000 network. The introduction of innovative biomonitoring techniques, such as using beehives as ecological indicators in the Sources Nature Park, guarantees the complete absence of chemical pesticides in the catchment areas of mineral springs.
The unique microclimate of the valley, characterized by cool nights even in the middle of summer (a windchill effect enhanced by the humidity of the river), requires appropriate camping equipment. Thanks to the real-time weather and hydrological data integrated into our free web-app KSA GPS Pro, you can anticipate weather changes and optimally manage your night comfort.

Top, very friendly and good service. Correct prices.
We stayed 1 night in a tent and did the 11km kayak descent. Helpful and super friendly staff. Perfect organization for arrival on the Semois and reception after the descent. Thanks for everything!
We were able to enjoy this day thanks to the lady at the kayak bar! Without knowing it, we hadn't booked. She found a last minute solution! Top thanks again!
Excellent kayak rental on the Semois. Different routes possible for short or long distance depending on the wish. The staff is very friendly and advises you perfectly!
Magnificent canoe descent (17km), the service is very good, we wait little even at arrival thanks to the driver and his wife. In addition, the small cafe with terrace is very pleasant.
