Based in the Vresse-sur-Semois region, I have been navigating the Ardennes rivers (Semois, Lesse, Ourthe) for many years. Kayaking is not just a hobby for me; it's a constant study of nature. I have learned to read the currents, anticipate floods, and understand the direct impact of weather on kayakers' safety. It is this intimate knowledge of the Ardennes valleys that allows me today to offer reliable advice grounded in field reality.
Safety & Algorithmic Expertise
Recreational boating can quickly become dangerous if river signals are ignored. My main goal is to guarantee the absolute safety of practitioners. By cross-referencing my practical experience with nautical safety standards, I issue strict recommendations regarding equipment (such as the mandatory 5mm neoprene wetsuit on cold days) to prevent severe risks like cold shock response or hypothermia.
The KayakSemois Algorithm
To bridge the gap in precise and centralized information, I developed a custom hydrological API (v3.0.0). This system analyzes official data from the Public Service of Wallonia (ODWB) in real-time, every 15 minutes, to offer total transparency.
Exclusive Comfort Index
Beyond simple flow rate (m³/s), I developed an algorithm calculating a Difficulty Score and a Comfort Index taking into account water temperature, windchill, and actual water level.
